Effort is the measure
We reward curiosity, practice, and persistence. Progress belongs to the person who keeps showing up and keeps trying.
A Pensieve Labs community initiative
Roots by Pensieve is a not-for-profit learning initiative that began in the village of Jamunather. We teach practical, future-ready skills in plain language, free of charge, to every young person who wants to learn.
Our belief
We believe learning is the surest root of a better life. We reward curiosity, practice, and persistence. Here, what you build is decided by your own effort and your own curiosity, and learning is open to every young person, free of charge, with no barrier of any kind.
We reward curiosity, practice, and persistence. Progress belongs to the person who keeps showing up and keeps trying.
Learning here is free of charge and open to every young person in Jamunather, with no barrier of any kind. Girls and boys learn on equal terms.
We teach in plain language, in a real village, with progress you can measure. No jargon, no pretence, no promises we cannot keep.
What we do
Roots runs free courses and provides free learning materials, in person in Jamunather and online for those who prefer to learn from home. We teach five areas that help a young person become capable, safe, and employable. Every course is designed to be understood by a complete beginner and to lead to something you can actually do.
How we started
Roots by Pensieve grew from a plain observation. Young people in Jamunather were curious and willing, and the tools that could change their lives, a computer, the internet, a clear explanation, were not always within easy reach. Pensieve Labs decided to close that gap directly, at no cost to anyone in the village and no cost to the public exchequer.
We started small and honest. A few learners, a few subjects, and a promise that everything would be free and open to all. We chose to teach the skills that matter most today: how to use a computer and the internet with confidence, how to recognise and avoid online fraud, how to handle money safely, how to understand everyday rights and lawful conduct, and the everyday life skills that help a young person carry themselves well.
The name says what we hope for. Roots do not show off. They grow quietly, they hold firm, and they let something larger rise. That is the kind of progress we are building in Jamunather, one prepared young person at a time.
Working together
Roots is built by the community, for the community. We work openly and gladly alongside local institutions, teachers, families, and the district administration, because a program that keeps young people learning, safe online, and lawfully productive helps everyone. We ask the public for nothing. We simply do the work and keep our door open.
Roots is privately funded by Pensieve Labs. It asks for no budget, no land, and no staff from the state. It is a pure addition, freely given.
By keeping young people constructively occupied, aware of online fraud, and confident with money and the law, we help prevent harm before it starts.
Local officials and neighbours are warmly welcome to visit Jamunather, meet the learners, and verify everything we say. Transparency is the point.
In the spirit of Digital India, Skill India, and the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, pulling in the same direction as the nation.
If you are a neighbour who wants to learn, a family with a curious young person, or an official who would like to visit and verify our work, we would be glad to hear from you. Our door is open.
